Playing on the
artificial wicket
Our artificial wicket has proved
to be a fantastic resource, ensuring that cricket can be
played and enjoyed by all levels of our club and we want
to keep it that way. To help with this can all coaches
and captains make sure that their players and
all visiting teams understand that players wearing
metal spiked shoes will not be permitted
to bowl or bat on our artificial wicket. If there is any
doubt or you have any questions then please do not
hesitate to contact either of our groundsmen, Ant Drew
or John Ross.

The deadline for collecting
vouchers has now passed and so on behalf of Kinross
Cricket Club, a big thanks to everybody who brought us
vouchers.
There were almost 2800 vouchers
handed in so we must be a really well fed club!!!
We have been able to get a
number of bats and match balls and once they arrive, we
will get a photo up on the site so that you can see what
you have helped us get.
Thanks again.

Kinross-shire Primary Schools
Kwik Cricket Tournament
Cleish Primary School were
crowned winners for the second year running of the
Kinross-shire Primary Schools kwik cricket competition
hosted by Kinross Cricket Club at their Kinross House
ground on Friday 12th June 2009. Eight teams took part,
including 2 from Kinross Primary, 2 from Fossoway
Primary, 2 from Portmoak Primary and one each from
Cleish and Milnathort Primary Schools. There was a great
deal of excellent quality cricket from all the teams and
all the games were played competitively and in the
“Spirit of Cricket” .
Cleish will now go on to
represent the area in the Kinross, Tayside, Angus and
Fife Regional round within the next couple of weeks.
This follows a 3 month program
of schools coaching carried out by club coaches in all
the Kinross-shire Primary Schools. Two of the schools
have now set up after school cricket activities to meet
the demands of their pupils that enjoy the game. Many of
the youngsters involved have joined Kinross Cricket
Club’s junior section which has well over 100 junior
members.
Club Tournament Organiser and
Schools Coach, Kirsteen Ross said “It is fantastic to
see so many young players participating in cricket and
especially the growing number of girls. It is clear to
see there is a lot of sporting talent in the primary
schools in Kinross-shire. We would like to thank the
schools for the warm welcome they extend to our club
coaches and their support and encouragement for our
“cricket taster” program that we run each year to
introduce children to the game”

Boys do well in Arbroath
An U11 team travelled to
Arbroath for the Moira Shaw Kwik Cricket Tournament and
put in a fantastic performance, loosing narrowly in the
semi-finals to the hosts.
In their first match, they just
lost out to Largo by 15 runs but then recorded victories
over Strathmore and Watsonians to see them qualify for
the semi-finals where they met the hosts who proved to
be too strong for them on this occasion.

The boys all received medals on
the day with one of the parents saying that their son
was chuffed with his medal and so he should be.
Well done boys and a big thanks
to cliff for travelling with the boys to make it
possible to play the game, without you it simply would
not have happened.

2009 Photographs
We have started to put some
photos up from the 2009
season (U11s v Largo, Junior Coaching and Ladies
Coaching) but would really like to have more. If you are
at any Kinross matches and you have taken some
photographs and are happy to share them, then we would
love to have a copy of them.
Can you please stick them on a
CD or memory stick, which we will return, and bring them
to Monday night training and either leave them at the
registration desk or give them to Ant Drew.
If possible can you give us the
photos straight off the camera, as we will work with
them from there.

100 Club
The aim of the 100 club is to
raise much needed funds for the Cricket Club.
It is hoped that the club will
have at least 100 members, but it will be possible to
have more than 1 membership.
Each membership will cost £4.00
per month, paid by Standing Order (see enclosed form) or
a lump sum of £48 paid annually. 50% of this income will
benefit the club and 50% will paid out in prizes,
through a monthly draw and a larger Christmas prize.
Debbie Weir from the fundraising
committee has agreed to manage this scheme along with
club treasurer, Alan Harper.
Should you have any queries
regarding the 100 club, please contact Debbie on 01259
743 417.
