The Making of History

IMG_6761.jpg

On Wednesday 18th June Kinross-shire Cricket Club hosted it's first international match between a Perth and Kinross U16 Select and St Laurence College, Brisbane.

The Perth and Kinross U16 select batted first and set a target of 120 in their 30 overs with Fred Culley top scoring with 50.

After a fantastic BBQ up at The Larder, St Laurence started their reply and by the 20th over they were 98 for 2 when they retired their captain on 38.

It was at that time that the Perth and Kinross team started to make a comeback and by the 25th over, they have made entered into history as the winners of the first international match at The Larder by bowling St Laurence's out for 115.

It was a great game of cricket, played in a fantastic spirit under bright sunshine and we are looking forward to welcoming the tourists back on their next visit.

Wee Stramash Result

A wonderful, sunny, Monday night, 16th June, saw another match between the Kinross-shire Partnership Ospreys and the Borland Buccaneers. The Ospreys batted first managed to make it through to the 9th over before they lost their first wicket due to a sharp stumping by B Normile, making it 64 for 1 at the end of the over. The last batting pair, J Muncey and D Young came in for overs 11 and 12 and took the Ospreys' total to 93 for 2 with Some attacking batting.

The Ospreys then took to the field feeling confident that 93 was a very good score from 12 overs and that they had a real chance for winning the game. H Silcock and E Hillman opened the batting for the Buccanees and by the end of their two overs, they had pushed their team into a 6 run lead that was maintained until the 5th over when the Ospreys' E Mitchell bowled really well, pulling her team back into the game. The match was fairly evenly poised up to the last pairing of W Silcock and B Normile for the Buccaneers needing 14 runs from their last two overs to win the match. W Silcock took the strike and hit the first two balls he faced for a 6 and a 4, effectively taking the game away from the Ospreys. The Buccaneers finished on 100 for 5 winning the match by 7 runs.

The player of the match was E Mitchell for her match best bowling figures of 1 wicket for 2 runs.

The Wee Stramash Fundraising Book

During the summer many of our juniors took part in the "Wee Stramash".

At the Junior Awards night we showed a video with many of the photos from it and told you that we would soon be producing a photo book.

Well the photo book is now ready, here is a preview of it...

As many of you will be aware, we will be starting construction of a new pavilion, to shelter in when it rains, so this book is also a fundraiser for us.

If you would like to buy a copy, all you have to do is to follow the link and order it directly.

If you have any questions about it, please contact Ant Drew.

Club Clothing

The club also holds a small stock of kit should members require clothing at short notice.

100 Club

The aim of the 100 club is to raise much needed funds for the Cricket Club.

It is hoped that the club will have at least 100 members, but it will be possible to have more than 1 membership.

Each membership will cost £4.00 per month, paid by Standing Order (see enclosed form) or a lump sum of £48 paid annually. 50% of this income will benefit the club and 50% will paid out in prizes, through a monthly draw and a larger Christmas prize.

Debbie Weir from the fundraising committee has agreed to manage this scheme along with club treasurer.

Should you have any queries regarding the 100 club, please contact Debbie on 01259 743 417.
